About This Program

In recognition of International Women’s Day the Parliament of NSW Education team invites Year 11 students to participate in the Young Women’s Leadership Seminar to discuss women in leadership.

When: Monday 8 March 10am – 12:15pm. 

One program will be run in two different formats to cater to regional and metro schools. This is a COVID safe event.  

REGIONAL SCHOOLS METRO SCHOOLS 

In recognition of International Women’s Day the Parliament of NSW Education team invites you and your Year 11 students to participate online in the young Women’s Leadership Seminar to discuss women in leadership.

Keynote presenter on the day is Rae Cooper, Professor of Gender, Work and Employment Relations at Sydney University. Rae received an Order of Australia in 2019, for her contributions to higher education and to workplace policy and practice. This program is an opportunity for students to meet an inspiring leader who can speak on personal and professional experiences, and who can help young women aspire to leadership roles. In addition, a panel of female Members will discuss highlights, challenges and opportunities they have experienced in their careers. Throughout the program students will have the opportunity to ask questions of the presenters.

NSW Parliamentary Education would like to invite two Year 11 students from your school to attend the annual Young Women’s Leadership Seminar at the Parliament of NSW to discuss women in leadership.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions we will be offering an onsite experience for 50 students and an online experience for all other applicants. Onsite places will be filled through a ballot and teachers will be informed if their students will be attending the event onsite or online. Teachers who escort their students to the event will be unable to attend due to restricted numbers inside the Parliament.
