The Parliament has two presiding officers. The Speaker in the Legislative Assembly and the President in the Legislative Council. They are chosen by their House to preside over sittings as well as looking after the administration of the Parliament.  Each House also elects members as Deputy Speaker and Deputy President to act in as Presiding Officers when necessary.
