Under the standing orders members may submit written questions to Ministers who are required to provide a written answer within a set timeframe. These questions and answers are in addition to question time when members ask Ministers directly and the Minister provides an immediate answer. Sometimes, during question time a Minister will take a question “on notice” if they want to obtain more detail before answering.
