About the program

Join us to discover lots of fun activities to do with your students when teaching parliament!
We’ll have tips on how to run a role play, ideas for using your local MP in the classroom, quizzes, animations, and lots more resources. We’ll also outline the programs available from the NSW Parliament for your students.
The session will focus on Stage 3 History K-6 topic Australia as a Nation and showcase resources for teaching and learning about:
- the development of democracy in NSW
- how Australia became a nation and the influences of Britain and the USA on Australian democracy
- the role of key figures such as Henry Parkes and Edmund Barton
- the role and structure of Parliament including how laws are made
- resources, tours and programs for teaching parliament in Stage 3
This ninety-minute interactive session allows teachers to engage with Parliamentary educators and each participant is given a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation for use in class.
