Being a Member of Parliament is about bettering society, serving your community and driving real change.
It also comes with a sense of humility because a big part of your role is about listening to your constituents and the issues affecting them.
Last week, we held an insightful panel discussion with upper and lower house state members to hear their experiences in fulfilling the three-fold role of an MP: representative, legislator and scrutineer of government.
Hosted by Senior Education Officer Daniela Giorgi, we heard from:
- The Hon. Peter Primrose MLC ,Assistant President of the NSW Legislative Council
- Adjunct Professor Tamara Smith MP, Member for Ballina
- Ms Stephanie Di Pasqua MP, Member for Drummoyne
- Dr David Saliba MP, Member for Fairfield
